When the world locked down in March of 2020, the resilient native plants of the Texas Hill Country bloomed anyway. One April morning, I drove along a back road and saw rainbows of delicate blossoms peeking out from barbed wire fences in rocky soil. Blooming in a drought. As I painted what I saw, I hoped that I would also thrive in rocky soil.
These paintings are a tangible reminder of a really hard year in which we bloomed anyway.
